In Greene county district court Anthony Grife, 23, of Scranton was sentenced July 8 after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of lascivious acts with a child. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison, concurrent to a 15-year sentence in U.S. District Court Southern District of Iowa on a charge of sexual exploitation of a child/production of child pornography. In both jurisdictions, Grife is to be under supervision as if on parole for the remainder of his life. Grife was fined $1,000 with a $350 surcharge; both were suspended. A judgment was entered for a $200 civil penalty. Court costs were $340. (Sentencing: Honorable Gary McMinimee)
George Joseph Glasgow, 44, of Hutchinson, KS, was sentenced June 29 to two years in prison after he pleaded guilty to a charge of domestic abuse assault (aggravated misdemeanor), amended from domestic abuse assault- third or subsequent (felony). All but seven days of the prison term was suspended and Glasgow was placed on probation for two years. He must complete a batterers education program at his own expense. Glasgow was fined $625 with a $218.75 surcharge; both were suspended. He must pay $250 restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees and $383 court costs. (Sentencing: Honorable Adria A. Persons pleaded not guilty at arraignment as follows: Kimberly Ann Nelson, 38, of Jefferson, unlawful possession of prescription drug, burglary-third degree; Joey Ann Godwin, 35, of Jefferson, possession of methamphetamine, theft-second degree, possession of stolen property, criminal trespass; Zachery Allen Waters, 20, of Grand Junction, burglary- third degree; and Glenn Edward Summers, 34, of Glidden, burglary- third degree (two counts), ongoing criminal conduct, attempted burglary- third degree, and burglary- third degree- vehicle (13 counts). Trial dates were set for Aug. 23 for Nelson, Godwin and Summers, and for Sept. 27 for Waters.
Cases were initiated in district court as follows: Vincent Andrew Ratliff, 35, of Jefferson, theft- fourth degree; Jason Scott Clark, 35, of Fort Dodge, domestic abuse assault causing injury or mental illness; Dana Mark Johns, 54, of Jefferson, possession of marijuana- first offense; and Freedom Hope Ore, 34, of Hutchinson, KS, burglary- third degree- vehicle.
